Treasure of the Bloodline
Fingers shaking, the cold dawning night could be the cause of what seemed to slowly leak around her. It truly felt like eternity as she sat within the
grasps of the shadows. Mind racing from the thoughts that occurred over and over again. Reminding her what she had been running from as her hands rested
tightly against her chest. Her eyes diverted in every direction of paranoia. The case of insanity lay lingering on the surface. What had just happened? Only
entered her mind. She knew what happened. She was there when it did. When everything happened. But could anyone believe her. Especially now that blood lined in
every crest curve of her fingers as she grasped something close to her chest. Rising and falling, her chest labored on to catch up with her racing heart.
Reminding her that shock was still in control of her psychological functions. Gasps and soft cries of apprehension take her voice. Ripping it from any control
as her thoughts raced to scream out. Cry out to the world to hear.
And there she was, against the moist walls of some dark alleyway that could be an entrance to another hellish fire that she wished not to know of. Her frigid body stayed tight against the wall. As if she looked to drowned within its stony reaches. Hiding away from what every came looking for her. It was moments like this that she wished death was brought upon her. The coward she was for running. But what was one suppost to do when fear grasped at the heart. Nearly putting it at the edge of giving out. Yet it never did. Running for survival was all she could do. From the maniac that haunted her nightmares. A vibration that just echoed in her ever well being. It was times like this that she wished she committed that act of self murder. That reason for dying seemed so fresh now as she looked down the alley at the shuddered light that threatened to go out. As if that light lay to be her only flicker of hope that burned in her.
Her hand raised to the light, blood coated and shaking. Slowly it ran the silk strands of dark brown. She could feel the intimidation of cold winter air surge around her before falling to a still. As if death lingered around her in the air. Eyes raising up. The sweet angelic brown eyes looked to the heavens as the first winter snowflake fell. 'How dare God let it snow.' Her mind thought in spite. 'With all I've been through and he lets purity fall.' Her thoughts were corrupted by hate and rage. She could see no joy in this eve's hourly snow. Her hand grasped tightly at her hair now. Ready to just scream a curse out. To denounce all faith to him as tears once again stained her pale features. Color had yet to return and the cold only added a soft blue touch to her features. Her lips trembled softly from the raging control of tears falling from her eyes. Only adding to the once dried stream of mascara.
She found herself gasping gently. Eyes closing for a second as she brought her legs close to her chest as she made no noise. No sound of pain or sorrow left her lips. Silently she cried like all the years of her life. This made no difference. As she opened her eyes. A sound caught her attention. She looked to the shuddering light. Yet she saw nothing but a mere tom cat looking for its nightly meal. A calm washed over her as she thought of going to the police. But what would she tell them. How could she tell them. They knew her family all to well. Thinking of a good life. If they only knew what took place in that house. If the could only understand the deeds she saw done on those grounds. Forever stained in the house and on her memory.
Her mind jumped. The cat took off just as fast at the sound of dogs. Her breath caught tight in her chest. She knew why they were lose. She knew why they were barking. They were looking for her. 'Could they be?' She questioned lightly. Yet coherent it seemed impossible at the moment as she heard the barks get closer. Her breath nearly stopped in her lungs. Her heart threated to beat faster as she felt the surge of adrenaline blend with the oxygen of her blood. Yet frozen it seemed to never happen as she got to her feet. 'Don't fail me now.' She begged as this young cross country star rose up and took off rather quick in sprint. Opposite of the lightly. As if she let the darkness embrace her frightened figure as she dashed down the alleyway to the fence that lay at the end of the darkness. A mere wall to scale as she put whatever lay in her hand in the pocket of her slightly baggy faded jeans. Her hands taking grasp of the fence links as she placed her boots with in the holes. Glad that the ones she had on held the grooves to aid in her escape.
She managed to get over. Lucky that nothing got caught. She felt her feet in the asphalt on the other side. Her eyes glanced only for a moment back. The barks threatened closer. She couldn't freeze now. She refused to as she turned her sights back. Her body raised up as she started running. Eyes diverting to glance back for a moment more before she felt her body slam hard in to another body. Almost falling before she felt the arms grasp at her upper arms. Holding her tightly in place as her eyes looked to the face.
There he was. Holding her with a crude look of violent enjoyment. What made him so twisted? She couldn't even answer that question as she felt the fear now over take her mind and heart. Reminding her of what just happened. The murder of her own blood before her eyes. She fought to break free. Adrenaline only adding as a false spike of energy to aid in the pushes she took.
"You can't keep running Noel." The voice seemed rustic. Cold and cruel. As if it held no sweet promises of protection.
"Noooo..." She let out as she fought his strength. She could hear his mocking laughter. Her eyes looked to the hand that raised up. And instant reaction as her leg raised between his. Hoping she hit him hard enough for him to release. She felt his arm let go. She waited for no chance to make see if it worked as she dashed off out the other alleyway and into the haloed lighting as the slick black that lay at her feet only started to take in the water and turn white. Disappearing to a remind of old memories. But she held no time to go time memory lane at this moment. She looked for her best escape route. That was made up right away as she moved down the street. Her feet carrying her as she lost track of how far she was going and what she was passing. Her only thought was to run until she passed out or until she reached some sort of safe haven. But when it came to this metropolis, nothing really seemed safe. Nothing.
Her legs finally gave out. As she felt herself fall. Her hands hitting the ground as she feel forward. Knees slamming against the cold snow that now softly blanketed the ground around her. Her chest still laboring, but in overtime now as she tried to catch her breath. The stinging burn of new oxygen entering her dry throat. Her head raised up. Eyes looking around as her body lay in a cold sweat from the run. Shops laid around her. All closed. But something stood out. The old St. Martin's church. It still held lights on. Her eyes closed as she felt some relief. Quivering as her body rose up from the ground. She could feel her muscles tighten in the still cold air. The snow still seemed to fall gently around her as she struggled to her feet. She only need a couple more feet before she reached the steps of the small church. Her hands trembling with a hint of distrust.
She moved taking the item from her pocket as she studied the necklace now in the street lightly. The shimmering necklace that had been her sister's. 'Why did he want it?' She asked herself. She couldn't even began to understand why her brother killed their sister. She moved as she took the necklace, eyes looking to the building across from it. She remembered the hiding place her sister would hide things for her. Now it was her turn. She moved stuffing it in the flat surface of the iron bar of the fence. Her eyes finally looking to the church as she moved slowly. Looking to her arm as she took a blade from her pocket, cutting something in her arm. A reminder for later on. Her body moved slowly to the steps of the church now. Her hands shaking as she finally climbed the stairs. Was this even a safe place? She couldn't tell. She just prayed no harm would come her way as she found the door handle open to all. She pulled the door open as she looked around. The warm only felt welcoming to her ice cold body. Nobody lay in the church besides the statued figurines and flicker candles that the cold chill interrupted in a blunt flicker.
She could feel the fatigue fall over her as she moved to the closet pew. Sliding in to the small space as she let her body fall back against the oak finishing. Her head spinning with everything as the shock finally started to lift and everything began to sink in. And then bang.
Her body fell forward. Blood around the pews and on the back of her dark navy blue blouse. Her head lay down, eyes open from the quick point blank shot. Her hair matted with blood from the penetrating bullet that entered and now lay embedded in her skull.
The whisper of the shot didn't even disturb the world that lay holy around them. The smoke that rose only lightly from the barrel in a welcoming word of written death. A rough hand pulled from the handle, grasping at the brown hair as he pulled the head back. Opening the mouth of the now dead Noel. Looking for the necklace that the head detective had requested be looked for. He moved around the pew as he searched her pockets. And certain parts of her body. Yet nothing. His hand moved to the pocket of his black slacks. Eyes turning towards the cross as he pulled a cell phone from his pocket. Hitting only a number for speed dial.
"Anything Father?" That cruel rustic voice appeared on the other line.
"Nothing. Either she swallowed it or discarded it." The young priest spoke lightly in to the receiver as he pulled a white cloth out to clean his hands up.
"Then cut her open and see!" The voice carried worry and rage.
"Where will the body go then?" A slight agitation of anger. He dark eyes looked back to the dead girl before looking to the cross ahead.
"I don't fucken care! Get that fucken necklace back!" The voice yelled at him before hanging up.
He pulled the phone from his ear as he heard the yelling before the abrupt hang up. His eyes looked back to the girl. Hours went on as the process took place yet nothing was found.
A new day had dawn, the body of a young girl lay forever bond to death with in the alleyway as the sightseers loomed over the yellow tape. The body lay opened and revealed. Blood staining the white snow as any sense of evidence was now and forever last. Except for the cuts that lay in the girls arm. A message to the world. One word. Corruption.
Years would pass before the fence near the church was changed. The young priest now old, and the horrid crime now long forgotten forever. Yet a mere child discovered what lay hidden for so long. The gold necklace as she kept it. Never would anyone find out it was that same necklace. Now and until the child's death in her teens would it never be discovered. The information that Noel Brasco's brother when as far as kill both his sisters to get to. And there Noel lay in her grave laughing at the elderly brother that could do nothing more then watch as the necklace went with the child in her grave.
